I’m a Los Angeles-based yoga and meditation teacher (RYT-200), sound healer, reiki master, and certified health coach, AND I’m obsessed with all things health, wellness, and spirituality. I strive to live a life full of balance, joy, gratitude, and love, and I’m excited to share my journey with you. But, in order for you to understand where I’m coming from, I think it’s important for you to know what got me here. So… I guess I’ll start at the beginning…

 As far back as I can remember, I have been worried… about everything... constantly. For the longest time, I assumed that worrying was just a normal part of life and that everyone had the kind of (weird and often crazy) thoughts I did. It wasn’t until I was around 24 years old that I realized there might be something more to my anxious thoughts and worry-focused mindset. As it turns out, all the “worrying” was anxiety, and once I learned that, so many things I had experienced in my life made so much more sense.

Throughout the course of my life, my anxiety manifested itself in many different ways… from perfectionism and body image issues to obsessive dieting and poor sleep patterns to excessive worrying about nonexistent things… and don’t forget the really fun stuff like full blown panic attacks (the kind where you start crying for no “real” reason and struggle to catch your breath) and unhealthy coping mechanisms like nail biting, pacing, pulling out my eyelashes, picking at my skin, tossing and turning throughout the night, total loss of my appetite… the list goes on.

Thankfully, some of my unhealthy habits sparked a curiosity in holistic wellness, and I started dipping my toes into things like veganism and yoga during my sophomore year of college.

Eventually, I started eating organic, whole foods instead of just being vegan (newsflash: not all vegan food is good for you & a vegan diet is not for everyone!) and taking supplements. I swapped a few of my gym workouts (which I hated) for yoga. Eventually, those interests turned into my passions and introduced me to other areas of the wellness world, such as meditation, self-care, holistic beauty, astrology, and so much more. Together, all of these things ultimately helped me approach my life from a new angle, and I realized over time that I didn’t need to “fix” myself, but rather, I needed to learn to love myself.

I learned a lot of other things along the way, too (not all at once, as I said, it has truly been a journey). I learned that it’s possible to nourish my body without deprivation while still indulging here and there (and abandoned my short-lived vegan diet for a more well-rounded pescetarian one). I learned that the number on the scale is meaningless and should not define how I feel about my body or myself as a whole. I learned that the perfect body is the one that I have right now, and if I want to change it, doing workouts that I hate isn’t the way to go about it, and that (contrary to what other people have told me) I can find ways to move that make me feel good while still giving me the results I’m looking for. 

But, most importantly, I learned that I needed to surrender the pursuit of “control” and let go of everything I spent my entire life telling myself. I needed to trust that the universe would guide me to the place I’m supposed to be, if only I would let the f*ck go and allow it to.

My wellness journey also showed me that I have a strong desire to share my experiences and connect with people who might be struggling with the same things I’ve struggled with: anxiety, poor body image, low self-confidence, and restrictive eating. Wherever you are in your own journey, I hope that I might be able to offer some insight that will help you get to the place where I have found myself: a place full of self-love, vibrant health (both physical and mental), and ultimately, balance.
